UPAYA MENUMBUHKAN KEBERANIAN SISWA DALAM BERTANYAMELALUI PENINGKATAN MOTIVASI PADA MATA PELAJARAN MATEMATIKA (Studi Siswa Kelas V MI Manbaul Ulum Campurejo-Bojonegoro)

Abstract


The government has conducted much more effort to develop the quality of education in this country, unfortunately, it doesn’t give any result yet, as it happened to the students of MI Manbaul Ulum Campurejo – Bojonegoro while studying Mathematics. Such a thing resulted from the lessen of students’ interaction whenever teaching learning process is in progress. One of the interaction is in the form of students’ question. By developing students’ motivation on Mathematics, thus, the cause of students’ fear of asking question can be known.
Questioning interaction during Mathematics teaching and learning process is very useful for both student and teacher. But in fact, there is small number of students who are dare enough to ask question. They may be afraid, shy, unskillful, or there is no chance for questioning given by the teacher, or it’s all about the difficult material.
This direct observation is aimed to take some notes of frequency and number of students who ask questions at, in addition, to evaluate teacher’s strategies of giving the material. After analyzing process, it’s found that the students have psychological obstacles, that is such a trauma on Mathematics, unskillful student for questioning, economical problems that make them unaware to continue their further study.
There is little bit changes on students behavior after giving them motivation, persuasive approaches, questioning techniques, its benefits and exercises. They are going brave to ask questions, although the simple one. Thus, such supporting situation is needed to set students free of this psychological obstacle. There are several factors that cause the students of fifth class of MI Manbaul Ulum Campurejo – Bojonegoro unaware of asking questions. They are feeling of shy and fear, the psychological obstacle, and the difficulties of expressing their ideas and questions into the words.
And the steps that can be done in developing students’ courage to ask questions are creating such a conducive condition by the teacher, thus, the students are free from their psychological obstacle. The teachers are supposed to be smart to create various motivations, give technical guidance, and stimulate their students to express what they have in their minds.
