Abstract


This research titled: ?Analysis of considered variables different in choosing temporary living (Boarding house and rent house)?
The research aimed to find out whether any significant variable difference in choosing temporary living, also to find out what variable have dominant influence in consideration when choosing living place at Faculty of Economic University of Muhammadiyah Malang students.
In the research, the writer took two hypotheses where the writer suspected there were two different variables considered by the consumer in choosing temporary living place in Faculty of Economy University of Muhammadiyah Malang students, and suspected that the most dominant consideration variable for Faculty of Economy University of Muhammadiyah Malang students in choosing temporary living place was price variable.
To find out the different between considered variables in choosing temporary living place (boarding house and rent house) there used discriminating analysis tool.
After calculation by using discriminating analytical tools, there found sig < 0,05 so that stated there were different variables considered in choosing temporary living place and found equation:
D = -3,830 + 1,255 X1 -0,186 X2 + 0,465 X3 -1,066 X4 +0,284 X5 +0,212 X6 + 0,301 X7 - 0,018 X8 - 0,416X9 and the dominant variable was price variable. Discriminating analysis fit with the measurement tools so that the two hypothesis in the research was proven and could be accepted.
According to above conclusion, the writer could imply that would be better if the boarding house and rent house owner in stating selling price, they should pay attention the guarantee or facility from the temporary living offered, in case only temporary product with good facility would be needed by consumer and able to compete.
